Today, I decided to visit the Farmer's Market. It's not exactly a hobby of mine, and I don't do it too often, but it's an annual thing, and there are quite a few interesting souvenirs besides the fresh greens. The novelty was tempting, and I felt it was worth a look. There were various stalls and tents scattered about the area. Some of them selling their homemade snacks or drinks, and a few of them seemed to be advertising for a larger company boasting organic goods. There were two of these stalls that caught my eye. One of them sold some tasty sauce, so I bought a bottle of that. The other... it was a black tent, with a purple, cursive logo reading "Sela Flower Haven". Running the stall was a... gorgeous woman. Her blonde, wavy hair looked so voluminous, and in it, she wore a crisp, fresh rose. The stall had a few things there; Some drinks, a few greens, and several bouquets of various flowers.

"Hello!" She called out, seeming to notice my attention.
"Ah!" I jumped a bit. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare..."
"Don't worry, I get that a lot." She smiled cheerfully, as she spoke with a peppy tone of voice. "I'm from a store called Sela Flower Haven! We just opened up a week or two ago, and we're gaining popularity fast. You should check it out sometime!"
I pondered the idea for a bit. "I don't know... I'm not too big on organic foo-"
"Actually!" She cut me off. "Sela sells some of the best food I've ever had! I'm not just saying that. I eat it every day!"
"You do make a pretty good case..." I looked over some of the products she had displayed. Mostly standard stuff. The drinks consisted of lemonade, health shakes, and other such things. Among the greens were heads of broccoli and lettuce, apples, pears, and potatoes, and the flowers were kept in several well-watered clear vases, packed with various species of flowers. ranging from common -- roses, lilies, and tulips -- to rare ones, like orchids. "I'll take half a gallon of the lemonade, I guess."
"Wonderful! That'll run you fifteen dollars."
"Fif-are you kidding me?" That price was insane, even for novelty foods.
"Hey, like I said, it's the best lemonade you'll ever have! In fact..." She pulled a slip of paper out of a bag, handing it over. "Let me sweeten the deal."
I took it, and to my surprise, it was a coupon. Present this coupon with your next purchase for one free item. it said, also listing an address and proudly displaying the Sela logo. "I guess that makes up for it." I dug around in my pocket, pulling out a twenty; all I had left. She gave change, we exchanged thank yous, and I told her I'd check out the store later. It seemed to make her happy.

When I got home, I wanted to wind down. I put the sauce in the fridge and pulled a glass out of the cupboard. I wanted to try the lemonade, so I poured myself a glass, sat down, and... took a sip. It was... alright. Pretty good, actually. I liked it, though it was a bit sour. I went back to the kitchen to add some sugar, and that improved the taste. Maybe tomorrow I'll head to Sela and pick up something to cook with...

I woke up feeling pretty energetic. The taste of lemonade was still lingering in my memory, so that must have been it. I had another glass of it, and it's tasting a lot better! Maybe it just needed to be cooled down. I was running low on it, though, and I wanted some more ingredients, so I got in my car and drove to Sela. It took me a while to find it, since it was pretty out of the way, but I was impressed. I don't know where they got the budget for it, but the building was massive. There was a huge glass dome over the whole thing. In front was an archway with a neon sign confirming this was nothing other than Sela Flower Haven. I entered through the automatic doors, and another... beautiful lady greeted me.

"Hello! Welcome to Sela!" She said, with a perky smile. "Is there anything I can help you find?"
"Oh, hey! I heard of this place from a stall at the Farmer's Market." I pulled out the coupon I received the previous day. "I got this coupon from the girl running it. I was hoping for some cooking ingredients. What do you offer here?"
She smiled happily. "Here at Sela, we offer one-hundred percent organic, non-GMO foods, healthy supplemental drinks, and crisp, beautiful flowers! Feel free to take a look around, or let me know if you need any help!"
"Right," I said. "Thanks. I'll just browse for now."
"Thank you for shopping at Sela!" She said, returning to the other customers.

One thing that struck me about the store was the odd-colored lights, everywhere. At the edge of every aisle was an endpiece with a few pieces of merchandise, some flowers, and these weird purple lights... I don't know what was so odd about them, they're just... so mysterious to look at. As I took in the scenery, I noticed in the center of the room, hanging from the dome was an enormous crystal chandelier, glowing purple. I couldn't help but stare into it for a while. I don't know if it was the mystique of it, or just wondering how an organic foods store could afford such a thing...
"Sir?" I heard a voice from behind me.
"Hwuh-?" I turned around. It was the greeter from before.
"You looked kind of lost there..."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I was just... mesmerized by the lighting." I sighed calmly. "This place is pretty nice..."
"Mmm." She nodded. "Take your time, sir."

I don't know how long I spent in the store, but I ended up picking up some cooking oil, vegetables, and a few drinks. I took them back to the checkout lane. There were so many customers, it seemed like there would be a long line, but every single register had someone running it. Not a common thing in a grocery store. The clerk running this one... do they only hire women? I don't know if I'm just superstitious, but- no, It's nothing. She rang me up.
"That'll be... $119.50!"
As she printed out the receipt, I was dumbfounded. "Jeez... I hope it's worth it."
"Oh, it is! Sela is the best! I'm sure you'll see it's worth the cost when you try it!"
I sighed. "Yeah... the lemonade was pretty good..."
"Ohhh, you're a new customer, aren't you? Give me a moment." She grabbed a vase near the register. "Here. All new customers get a free flower. Company policy!"
"Really? That's nice." I grabbed a lily, smelling it. "Thank you."
"No problem!" She smiled. I paid and left for home.

I'm not the best at cooking, but I made some stir fry with the things I got from Sela. It was delicious, actually. Better than anything I've made before. Sela is pretty great, but it's so pricey... Maybe if I cut into my luxury funds, I could afford a few more treats...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up feeling pretty happy today. It's probably the Sela food. It always tastes wonderful. I'm glad I went there... I'm gonna go back today. I can't help myself. Sela sells some of the tastiest, healthiest food I've ever eaten! I don't care what it costs me, I'd love more.
I drove to Sela again, bringing all the spare cash I could. I couldn't stop thinking about what to get first. I actually had a budget this time. I couldn't go too crazy... I wish I could try everything they sell, but I just can't afford it...
I stepped inside, and the greeter seemed to notice the troubled look on my face.
"Welcome to Sela! Is something wrong?"
"Yeah, I... I love Sela so much, but... I can't afford to keep shopping here." I felt shameful, almost. Avoiding eye contact.
"Aww..." She pouted. "I'll talk to the manager. Just enjoy your time here. Don't worry!" She reassured me.
I went about my business. Picked up a few flowers, fruits, and... sadly left. It's so depressing. Sela is so wonderful, I would've loved to stay there the whole day...
As soon as I got home, I made some Sela for dinner, and it was the most delicious meal I've ever eaten. Sela is the best!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I woke up today, awash with glee. And, to my surprise, there was a message from Sela in the mail! It was a job offer! I guess that lady must've really pulled through! I'm headed there right away!

Stepping through the familiar doors again, the clerk from before greeted me, and asked me to follow her. Near the checkout lanes was the door to the manager's office - a staircase to a room a bit higher up with a glass window overlooking the store.
"Hello! We've been expecting you!" The manager said, with a cheerful, enthusiastic tone.
"Hi!" I responded happily. The manager was gorgeous beyond description. Her jet black, yet shiny hair flowed wonderfully, only made prettier by the nightshade she wore in it. Her gracious figure only accentuated her commanding status, and her purple eyes had such a lovely shimmer to them.
"Shelby has taken notice of your dedication, and we think you have the authentic Sela loyalty for the job." She nodded. "You're hired! You can start immediately, if you like."
"Wow, really?" I had never been more excited in my life. "I'm ready to begin!"
"Perfect!" she said. "Follow me, we'll get you into uniform."
She got out of her chair, and I followed her to the flower section. On the back wall, in a small alcove obscured by the flowers, was a set of double-doors with an "Employees only" sign on them. She pulled out a key, unlocked the door, and opened it.
Inside was a long, metallic hallway, lit by purple lights every few feet in the floor and ceiling. I stepped inside, and the lovely smell of flowers pervaded my senses, calming me down and reminding me that everything was okay. Sela is the best, after all. And I was finally going to be able to work for them!
At the end of the hallway was a big room. The manager headed to a locker, and pulled out a uniform for me. "Step into one of the changing chambers and put this on, then you can begin!" Sure enough, at the back of the room was a set of large, cylindrical chambers. As I stepped inside, slipping on the soft, silky shirt and skirt, I saw the manager stepping behind a control panel, and as she did, a sheet of glass slid shut over the chamber.
"We just need to make a few quick adjustments, and you'll be ready to begin!" She said, cranking a knob. A vent started to flood the chamber with a thick, pink gas. It smelled so nice... like exotic flowers... As I breathed it in, I felt it fill my entire being with a warm, tingly sensation. It built up in my chest and hips, stretching them out and filling out my uniform. The smooth, silky material only made the feeling even more wonderful! The manager pulled a lever, and the chamber started to fill with a lavender glow. I felt so calm, so happy. I love Sela more than anything! I took in another deep breath of the gas. My body hair started to recede while my scalp tingled, and my hair grew out. A long lock of brown hair fell in front of my face, and I watched as it curled before my eyes. I felt the back of my hair reach the base of my spine. So pretty! The rest of my body frame adjusted to become one much more feminine. I was elated. I'd never felt as peaceful before in my life! The gas started to drain from the room, and in the reflection of the glass, I saw my voluptuous figure, feminine hair, and beautiful, mystical hot pink eyes. The glass slid open, and I stepped out of the chamber. The manager gave me a lily to put in my hair, and told me I was ready to begin!

I'm loving my new job at Sela. I hope you come to visit the store someday! I'll be sure to show you around and help you find whatever you need!
Mostly did this for practice, haven't been writing as much as I should be.
I've been working on this for the past few days. A remake of Sela Flower Haven, which I kinda consider my magnum opus. I've changed up the setting a bit since I wrote it, and made a new story to compensate. I'd say this version is more related to the setting itself, while the original is more faithful to the dream. 2,116 words.
